Frequently asked questions
Short, plain-English answers to common questions about PIP, DLA for children and Attendance Allowance.
We explain the system. We do not advise on individual cases.
Is this website connected to the government?
No. PIP and DLA Help is an independent information website. It is not part of GOV.UK, DWP, HMCTS or any government department. For official forms, deadlines and current rules, always check GOV.UK.
Can you tell me if I will qualify?
No. We explain how the benefit system works in general. We cannot decide whether someone qualifies, what rate or points they should get, or whether they should challenge a decision. Those decisions are made by the DWP or a tribunal.
Which benefit should I look at?
As a general guide: PIP is usually for adults aged 16 up to State Pension age; DLA is for children under 16; Attendance Allowance is for people over State Pension age. See our Start here page if you are not sure which section to read.
Do you charge for anything?
No. This website is free information only. We are not a claims service and we do not sell anything.
Do you store my information?
No. This website does not collect medical records, benefit letters, appeal papers or personal information. It uses essential cookies only, with no analytics or tracking.
Where can I get help with my own claim?
This site explains the system in general. For help with an individual claim, the official starting point is GOV.UK, which lists the official phone lines and forms.
